Study Realm — Privacy Policy

Study Realm ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension developed by an individual developer based in Australia. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data We Collect

The Extension stores the following data locally on your device only using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:

• Study session history (dates, duration, environment used)
• Task list (task text, completion status, subject tags)
• XP points, level, and streak count
• Timer preferences (preset, custom durations)
• Selected study environment and ambient preferences
• Username and avatar preference (display only)
• Custom subject names (Premium users)
• License key (Premium users, stored locally to verify activation status)

None of this data is transmitted to any server, third party, or external service. It exists entirely within your browser and is never accessible to the developer or anyone else.

2. License Key Validation

If you purchase Study Realm Premium, you will receive a license key via email from Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor). When you enter this key into the Extension, a single API call is made to Lemon Squeezy's servers (api.lemonsqueezy.com) to verify that the key is valid. The only data transmitted in this request is the license key itself and a static identifier string ("Study Realm Extension"). No personal information, usage data, or study data is included in this request.

Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy applies to data collected during the purchase process. You can review it at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party monitoring tools
• We do not serve advertisements of any kind
• We do not access your browsing history, tabs, or any other Chrome data
• We do not transmit your study sessions, tasks, or XP data anywhere

4. Chrome Permissions Used

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions and uses them only as described:

• storage — saves your preferences and study data locally on your device
• notifications — displays a desktop notification when your Pomodoro timer completes
• alarms — keeps the timer running accurately in the background when the popup is closed
• offscreen — plays an audio chime when the timer completes, even when the popup is closed

5. Data Retention and Deletion

All data is stored locally in your browser and remains under your control at all times. You can delete all Study Realm data at any time by:

• Removing the Extension from Chrome (Settings → Extensions → Remove)
• Clearing Chrome's extension storage via Chrome DevTools

Uninstalling the Extension permanently removes all locally stored data.

6. Children's Privacy

Study Realm is a general-purpose productivity tool designed for students of all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
